Welcome to South Seattle Community College's Internship Program Website.

This website is designed to assist you (the student) with the internship process at South and how to approach developing an experiential learning experience that is right for you. Please check out our Frequently Asked Questions page for common questions regarding internships.

Internship is a for-credit class that requires preparation before you can register for credit. It is a good idea to start the process at least one quarter before the anticipated quarter of internship (for example, if you are planning to start internship in Winter 2012, you will want to start preparing for it Fall 2011).

A quick step-by-step process of the internship process follows:

  1. Complete the Internship Intake Form and schedule an appointment with the Internship Program Office by calling 206-934-7935 or emailing paco.mesch@seattlecolleges.edu.
  2. Identify a Faculty Mentor in your program of study (the mentor will approve your learning objectives, the internship site, as well as the grade for internship at the end of the process).
  3. Secure an internship site.
  4. Complete the Training Agreement/Learning Objectives Form and submit the completed form to the Internship Program Office. * Exception - the following two programs use separate forms:
    * Automotive Technology Training Agreement
    * Medical Business Information Technology (MBIT) Training Agreement
  5. Register for the appropriate program internship class credits (1 credit = 50 hours).
  6. Start and complete the internship hours
  7. Submit the following forms after completing the internship:
    • Timesheet (requires your site supervisor's signature and must reflect all the hours for which the student is registered) -
    • Self-Evaluation (requires your reflection and your Faculty Mentor's signature approving that the internship was completed satisfactorily)
    • Employer Evaluation (this must be submitted to your supervisor for completion at the end of the internship; it can be returned to the Internship Department directly by the supervisor)
If you have questions or need assistance, please contact us directly. Thank you and we look forward to working with you.
