Thank you for your participation in South’s Internship Program!
The time you spend mentoring students is an important part of the Internship process as these
opportunities would not be possible without your support.
Internships are structured learning experiences that allow you to help develop a student’s professional
goals in a non-traditional educational setting. Think of Internship as your opportunity to create and
explore individualized curriculum that may not be possible inside the classroom!
Please note that the content on this Website is just a starting point for your possibilities as a
Faculty Mentor. If you are interested in customizing or expanding your department’s current internship processes, please let us know.

The Internship Program Office is a support service. Our intention is not to implement
a pre-structured service; it is to collaborate with faculty in order to facilitate a vision for a comprehensive and
innovative experiential learning program.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the
Roles and Responsibilities of all partners involved in the internship process.
In order to support your student intern, we ask that you please correspond with the student’s Site Supervisor at
least 1 time per quarter. Your interaction with employers not only helps to ensure the quality of each student’s
experience, it also builds community support for your program.
As compensation for your time and efforts, the Internship Program Office currently
offers a $75.00 stipend for each student mentored per quarter. Please note that in order to receive your stipend,
you will need to contact or visit the student's site supervisor and fill out a Faculty Report Form. Click the following link to fill out
and submit your Faculty Report.
